The Youth for Christ chapter in Westman, Manitoba

Several awards were doled out at the Brandon Neighborhood Renewal Corporation annual general meeting recently. Among the groups that were recognized was the affordable housing project by Assiniboine Community College and its partner Habitat for Humanity Manitoba. As part of their 2014-15 curriculum, trades students from ACC have partnered with Habitat for Humanity and are building a ready-to-move home. Carpentry, woodworking, plumbing and construction electrician students at ACC have had a hand in the project. The project members were presented with the an affordable housing award from BNRC at the AGM, which took place at city hall last week.

Meanwhile, the Youth For Christ "small but powerful” pocket housing project received a housing award for its work. The project consists of an infill-style building, located at 139 Fifth Street, and includes eight units that have outside entrances for independent living. The building houses homeless and at-risk youth, adults enrolled in Youth For Christ’s transitional programs. READ MORE
